What do I do if I still want to improve but can’t compete?
I’m sorry to hear you can’t compete! But if you’re healthy you can still train! If you’re not healthy do absolutely everything possible to rehabilitate your injury. Because you aren’t in a competing season you can use this time to do general workouts, and increase your general strength. In other words use this time to become fundamentally sound (learn proper technique) mentally tough, and strong (if you have weak areas use this time to correct those). Basically, use this time to prepare yourself for your next training cycle so you can be one step ahead when its time to compete again.
